How Much Wrapping Paper Do I Need?

How Much Wrapping Paper Do I Need?

When you're standing there with a stack of gifts and a roll of wrap, it can be hard to tell how far that paper will actually go. A six-foot roll sounds like a lot! But will it cover a stack of small boxes or one oversized toy. This guide makes it easy.

What We Consider

We don’t just measure by square footage. We calculate based on how you actually wrap — laying the gift down and cutting across the roll.

Here’s the formula we use:

  • Paper width needed = Gift width + height + 2" buffer
  • Paper length needed = (Height × 2) + (Depth × 2) + 2" buffer
  • Our rolls are always 30" wide so that’s your upper limit for width

Once we know how each gift fits, we calculate how many fit per roll, so you’re not left guessing.

Tips for Choosing a Roll

  • Stick to one roll size per order. Mixing 6' and 15' rolls makes it harder to cut consistently.
  • Going beyond 2–3 gifts? The 15' roll is your best value - more gifts, fewer cuts, and plenty of extra just in case.
